Strain, natural frequency, damping coefficient and elastic modulus of mortar beams determined by fiber Bragg grating (FBG) sensors

Abstract Structural health monitoring can detect anomalies in time, allowing the implementation of more efficient maintenance and repair actions special engineering structures. An alternative evaluation structures civil is use optical fibers inscribed with Bragg gratings (FBG or Fiber Grating). This paper aims to compare available techniques estimate elastic module cementitious composites, as well contribute application fiber sensors strain, natural vibration frequency, damping coefficient modulus mortar beams. The FBG manufactured calibrated by authors presented a good precision for measuring those parameters samples. results show that strain gauge present similar result estimation (static dynamic), therefore, bare FBGs could be further investigated non-destructive testing.
